Dr. Eric Tannenbaum is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, hip, and knee injuries/disorders along with sports specific injuries.
During his fellowship, he spent an additional year of specialty training in Los Angeles, California, learning from international leaders in the field and perfecting skills in arthroscopic surgery. Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive technique that uses poke hole incisions and a small fiber optic camera, instead of traditional open surgery, to repair injured structures within the joint, such as rotator cuff repair or ACL reconstruction.
During his fellowship training, he also had the opportunity to work with joint replacement specialists learning the newest techniques in shoulder, knee, and hip replacement surgery. He was also trained in joint preservation procedures using hip arthroscopy.
Using the latest advances in surgical and nonsurgical treatments, Dr. Eric Tannenbaum is dedicated to helping his patients get back to their pre-injury state and back to doing what they love.
During his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Tannenbaum was Captain of the NCAA Division 1 wrestling team, a 4-Time All-American, and national finalist. He later graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School before completing his orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Michigan.
After his residency, Dr. Tannenbaum received extensive specialty training in orthopedic sports medicine through a fellowship at Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles, California.
He previously served as a team physician for the University of Michigan football, wrestling, and volleyball teams. Additionally, he served as a team physician for the Los Angeles Valley College football team and has taken care of multiple professional athletes.
